The future doesn't care about your job title
Have you realized your job is probably going to vanish in the next few years? Not just evolve a little. I mean: vanish.
That should hurt. It does for me. But you know what’s far worse? Pretending it won’t happen. That’s how you get stuck in the past, sleepwalking while the future sprints ahead.
Of course, one day an AI will do what I do: faster, cheaper and maybe even better. That’s practically inevitable. But here’s the twist: my “job” title on LinkedIn isn’t as important as what I feel is my mission in life.
In another age, I’d have been a blacksmith pounding iron, or a watchmaker fussing over gears, or a weaver threading patterns. Different crafts, same purpose: to create things that help people on their journey. That’s the troughline. That’s the identity.
And when the world tilts again - as it always does - will I complain? Sure, at first. Change is pain. New tools, new workflows, unfamiliar landscapes. It frustrates, it overwhelms. But then? It unlocks creativity. It multiplies possibilities. It makes you sharper.
That’s the paradox really: discomfort is the price of growth. Like Neo in the Matrix, we stumble, we struggle, we fall - and then we bend reality itself. No irony, no shortcuts - just work, persistence, and transformation.
So yes, my job may disappear. Maybe yours too. But my mission? That endures. And embracing the unknown isn’t just survival - it’s evolution. It’s the only way forward.
